Can you overdose on weed?

”Never use drugs, drugs are bad for you” You probably had to hear this tune from your parents from the age of 11, maybe even now, even if you’ve been living on your own for 5 years.

First we will put the concept of overdose into perspective. Yes, you can overdose on weed, but so can coffee, water, and anything else a person can ingest.

So can you die from a weed overdose? If you manage to do that, you’ll be the first person to do it. You have to get rid of an estimated 680kg of weed in 15 minutes. If you actually try this, your lungs are more likely to fail, and if you try it with edibles, the cause of death will probably be something other than the weed itself, sugar for example. At all, try to eat or drink only 680kg of anything in 15 minutes, and you will soon be over.

So no one has ever died and neither will you. This does not mean it is harmless for you. If you are familiar with using weed, you know that it makes you tired and your reaction time decreases. So don’t get behind the wheel if this bothers you. First go for a walk if you are well high, you won’t get very far but you still experience enough for your feeling. With these symptoms getting stronger, you know you’ve had enough. Because quite honestly, you are already half asleep on the couch, waiting for your pizza and then you still have 679 kg to go if you have done your best. In addition, you lose your pizza and you can’t finish your lighter – or vice versa.

What can be the case is that you get sick and get strange physical or mental complaints that you have never experienced before. You’re suddenly scared of your own dog who is normally your best friend, or your phone is doing weird things. The best way to prevent this is to try to go to sleep, you are already tired. If you can’t do this, try eating something and drinking some water. Hopefully this makes it a little more bearable. If you can’t do this either because you found a bench with a nice view and only brought weed, try reaching out to someone who can pick you up or accompany you. If even this is not the case, try to sit it out and maybe pick up some nice music, luckily the effects don’t last a week but only a few hours.

So the conclusion of the story, an overdose is possible. Is that the end? No, the chances of dying from an overdose of cherry pits are even greater.

Recognizing Leaf Problems

It is of course possible that leaf problems can be found on your cannabis plant, but how do you recognize these and what can be done about it? There is a wide range of potential problems if leaf problems are found. We’ll start with the easiest solutions first.

  • Check whether the plants get enough fresh air, so check whether the ventilation is good.
  • Check that the temperature and humidity are correct.
  • Check the lighting, see if you are using the right amount and in the right way.
  • You also check the nutrition, do you have the right ratio or have you made a small mistake.

If all this is in order, consult the Wheel of Eighteen. This disc has divided the important ingredients for a healthy cannabis plant into 4 parts. Building materials, primary nutrients, secondary nutrients and trace elements. Even if this is the problem, it is relatively easy to solve. This food is often for sale as a whole and you can give it as a whole. After that it is good to keep an eye on whether the plant is recovering.

If you’re having problems with the foliage that doesn’t look like it’s food, it could be due to mold or pests, for example.
If it is due to pests, it is important to notice this at an early stage and deal with it immediately. If you see the same kind of spots but no sign of life or eggs on your leaf, then you probably have a fungal infection. If this is the case, take a sheet to a specialist and they will tell you exactly what to do.

The growth cycle of a cannabis plant

The life cycle of a cannabis plant has different phases. As a grower, you have to pay attention to a number of things at each stage, in order to ensure that the plant grows healthy and strong and produces an optimal harvest. For the cycle of a cannabis plant, a distinction can be made in five phases. These phases will be discussed below to provide more insight into the needs of a growing cannabis plant during each phase.

Germination

The germination phase is the start of the life cycle of the cannabis plant. In this phase, the germination of the seed is central. The cultivation starts when your cannabis seed comes into contact with water for the first time. A first root will emerge from the seed after about two to three days. There are different ways to germinate your cannabis seed. The most common ways are to put them directly in the soil (or a germination plug), or to let them germinate outside the soil (often between two wet cotton balls). The advantage of the latter method is that you can clearly observe the development of the seed. In the soil, this is only possible when the seedling protrudes above the soil. During this phase, two embryonic leaflets will also emerge with the function of collecting light. If these leaves receive too little light, they will look for it and the stem will become unnecessarily long. It is therefore important that the plant immediately receives enough light. The process of germination takes about seven days, after which the plant proceeds to the seedling stage.

Seedling stage

Thanks to the emerged cotyledons, the plant can absorb light and use it through photosynthesis for further growth and production of leaves. By producing three-fingered leaves, the plant is already starting to look like a real cannabis plant. At this stage, the stem may also not be strong enough to support the weight of the growing plant. If this is the case, you can lend a hand by giving the plant extra support with a piece of wood and a thin string, until the stem has become strong enough to bear the weight without problems. The duration of the seedling phase is usually about one to three weeks. If the plant has developed four to eight new leaves, it means that the plant has reached the next stage of the growing cycle.

Vegetative growth phase

One of the most important phases of a cannabis plant’s life cycle is the vegetative phase. During this period, the plant mainly focuses on achieving maximum growth, so that the plant actually starts to expand. This is also the reason that the plant needs a lot of light and relatively more nutrition during the vegetative phase to allow the potential energy to reach maturity. It is during this period that the plant takes on the characteristic shape of a nice strong cannabis plant. The growth will maximize the plant’s ability to produce nice thick buds during the flowering phase.

Pre-flowering phase

This phase of the plant breeding cycle can be seen as a sub-stage. The pre-flowering phase begins when calyxes appear for the first time at the nodes where the branches meet the stem. It is therefore the phase that takes place just before the plant puts all its energy into flowering. During this short-term phase (usually one day to a week) the plant will still expand, with more attention being paid to the development of branches and the aforementioned nodes.

Flowering phase

The last and for many the most fun phase of the cannabis plant life cycle: the flowering phase. During this phase, the female cannabis plant will produce buds (flowers). The male plant will produce small clusters of balls containing pollen. If you find that there are also male cannabis plants in the same room as the female plants, it is important to remove them as soon as possible before they have a chance to spread pollen. The flowering phase can last from one to four months depending on the cannabis strain.

Difference between hash and weed

The collective name of weed is hash is cannabis. Weed and hash both come from the cannabis plant. To create resin, the resin of the flower buds is used. Weed comes from the green/brown buds of the plant. The main active substance in hash and weed is also called THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), this substance is incorporated in the resin of the plant.

The substance THC influences the following factors:

  • Appetite
  • The emotional experience
  • Processing information
  • The Sleep Process

In most cases, weed is cheaper and less strong than hash. Weed contains a lot of leaves from the cannabis plant. Hash is mainly resin processed from the flower tops, this part contains a higher concentration of THC. Hash contains a lot less leaves, which means it has a higher concentration of the active ingredient THC.

When the upper leaves and flower tips are dried and crumbled, weed is created. This can be recognized by the gray-green to green-brown color and the strong odor that emanates from it.

Hash is therefore made from the resin that can be found on the plant. The resin is created by cooling the flower tops first. It is then important to shake the flower tops by means of a sieve. The resin is then kneaded together to form a block of hash.

Pople often claim that hash makes you high and that weed gives you more of a stoned feeling. It mainly depends on the amount of THC and CBD which effect cannabis has.

The exact effects of weed and hash also differ greatly from person to person. It also depends on one’s expectations, state of mind at the time of use and own experience play an important role.
